ABOUT THE PERPETRATORS

There is no typical perpetrator. Batterers come from all socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, age, and employment groups. However, they often share some of the following characteristics:
 
Most (about 95%) are male.
Tend to minimize their violence.
Great need to control situations/people.
Rarely acknowledge emotions or feelings.
Often attempt to isolate their victims.
Are not violent all the time. (in many cases)*
May be quite charming initially.
   
  *All batterers should be regarded as potentially dangerous
