ABOUT THE PERPETRATORS

There is no typical perpetrator. Batterers come from all socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, age, and employment groups. However, they often share some of the following characteristics:
 

•	Most (about 95%) are male.
•	Tend to minimize their violence.
•	Great need to control situations/people.
•	Rarely acknowledge emotions or feelings.
•	Often attempt to isolate their victims.
•	Are not violent all the time. (in many cases)*
•	May be quite charming initially.
