You may have thought that this could never happen to you, but all women are at risk. You have done nothing wrong. Even in the safest environments, women can be victims of rape. You may find yourself feeling more vulnerable than you have felt in a long time. The fears you are experiencing are warranted.

Some special concerns for a senior survivor of a sexual assault may include:

•	The financial expense, especially if you are living on a fixed income.
•	It may take extra time for you to recover from injuries.

The victim advocates at Turning Point would be glad to discuss the economic impact of the medical treatment you have received. Your injuries, physical and emotional, may take longer to heal than you anticipated. Give yourself the time you need and remember there are people at the rape crisis center who want to help in anyway they can.
