VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

"ON CALL"

This involves being on call for transportation and emergencies from approximately 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. weeknights, holidays, and weekends. Pager provided.

CHILDCARE

This is done at the shelter during regular group meetings or as needed while clients are at appointments or looking for a job.
CHILDREN'S GROUP
ASSISTANT
This involves assisting the child advocate at the "Children of Domestic Violence" support group. This group meets every Thursday night from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to discuss domestic violence issues with children.

TRANSPORTATION

With a large client population, we are not always able to get the clients where they need to go. Volunteers are needed to take clients to their appointments.

OFFICE WORK

Answering the phone, copying, filing, organizing donations, and other required general office work.

NEWSLETTER

This involves research and development of pertinent articles and information regarding Turning Point services.

SPECIAL EVENTS

This involves assisting in special events such as fund raising, speaking engagements, and community outreach events.

Dating Violence and Sexual Assault Outreach Assistant

Assist staff in outreach/speaking engagements to junior high and high school students as well as professionals involved with teens.

Crisis Calls

This job requires additional training and involves answering the crisis line and counseling victims over the telephone at the shelter. Sometimes this involves screening them for our shelter.
